10 Most Popular French Desserts You Must Try in Paris

French Desserts, One of the things that have been really confusing to me in France is we go to the bakery, and I’ll say, God, that’s an amazing French Dessert. And French people tell me that’s not a dessert. That’s just for a snack. What are the things that you would have for dinner or bring home if you were entertaining but the classic French dessert?
But we’re going to share with you what we’re eating today, what the iconic desserts are. So when you’re in Paris, do you know what you need to try?

1. Creme Brulee

In just a minute, they’re going to bring me a creme brulee is a French Dessert, which I love. Creme brulee literally means burnt cream. But what it is, is a creamy custard that’s chilled. And then they take it out of the refrigerator, and they put sugar crystals on there, and they hit it with a blow torch to make it crispy.

2. Profiterole Au Chocolat

The next French Dessert we’re going to get is called profiterole oshokora. Now, the profito, the recipe actually dates back to 1500, but a chef by the name of Antoine Karen in the 19th century, the 1800s actually transformed the recipe to make it what is now called Profiterole Au Chocolat. it’s a staple of the French dessert.

First of all, what it is, it’s three cream puffs. They’re filled with vanilla ice cream, and then it’s covered with hot chocolate sauce and then sliced roasted almonds and whipped cream. The whipped cream is optional, but I always take whipped cream because it’s whipped cream.

Ice cream in France doesn’t taste like ice cream in the US. I don’t know if I’ve ever had ice cream that good. All of a sudden, I understand why influence is so excited about perpetrate, because I just thought, hey, it’s a cream puff chocolate sauce. No big wool, like an ice cream sundae. But he’s not getting this back. It’s mine now.

3. Ile flottante

So now this French Dessert is called Il frozen, which is another quintessential French dessert. It actually stands for the floating island because it is a meringue that is floating on the cream sauce, and it’s topped with toasted almonds and then caramel that is basically dripping over the meringue. And when you come to Paris or France, actually, it’s not only certain in Paris, you have to try a flotant at one. It’s so fluffy. It’s so light. The meringue is, like, super light. It’s really delightful. It’s a great dessert.

So for the record, I’m not excited about this. I had it once from the grocery store and once in a restaurant that was kind of a mid-level restaurant. Nothing extraordinary. Definitely not known for their dessert, so I’ll try it. This is way better than I’ve ever had before and it’s still not my favorite. In early 1900, the artist Kaluzua Trek decided to mix chocolate into a whipped airy dessert.

And what’s funny about that is he originally called it chocolate mayonnaise. How does that sound? Would you avoid it like the plague? Anyway, they changed the name to chocolate mousse, which I don’t know why they got mousse, but it’s better than mayonnaise. And so here as the main staple of French Desserts, we’re having a chocolate mousse.

If you were ever thinking that chocolate mousse is like chocolate pudding, that doesn’t even begin to say it. This chocolate mousse. You can see how thick it is when I dig in there. This one is not light and fluffy. This is about as rich as it gets. And I’m going to say that if you order chocolate mousse this size, split it with your partner. It’s rich. Ridiculous how good it is. It’s so rich.

4. Crepe Suzette

So this French Dessert is a crepe juice is one of the quintessential staple or iconic French desserts. It’s a crepe. It’s a lemon crepe with sugar, powdered sugar, and it’s flambeau with gramaine. And if you don’t know what gramaine is, it’s basically an Orange-based Liquor liquid. We’re going to eat a Framing grape. Dip it a little bit in Carmen. You can taste the alcohol. It’s a very simple French Dessert. It’s very basic.

It’s lemon sugar and then cramagnet. So it’s very light. At the end of the meal. You can taste that. There’s liquor in here, the fire that when he flames it, it Burns the alcohol off, but it still has that taste of the alcohol. It’s not too strong. It’s very light, very subtle, but very delicious. Definitely not a breakfast crib. Maybe not a lunch break, depending on what you’re doing after, but it’s a great crepe.

Some mittens had some champagne in the fridge. So we’re going to open this up because it’s like in between dessert, you want to refresh your palate. Absolutely. And champagne is how you refresh your palate in France, right? Right now that we’re drinking, which is Shonda.

5. Millefeuille

Cheers to you. So now this is Millefeuille. Now Millefeuille is another iconic French Dessert. And Milfa stands for thousand pairs of 1000 layers. And then what the French people do with this or this Milfare is basically it’s filled with cream, layer with goodness. So I can’t wait to try it. The dough is a little crunchy, and the cream is very light.

All of the ones we tried already today, including the creme brulee, which I’m in love with so far. This one is the very best. This is amazing. If you are in France, do yourself a favor. Try a Millefeuille.

6. Paris-Brest

This French dessert is called Peri Breast. And it’s developed from the bicycle race that people took from Paris over to the town of Breast, which is on the coast in Brittany. You can see that it’s round. And this one doesn’t have a hole in the center. But you’ll find these usually they’re made like a circle with a hole in the center to represent the bicycle wheel. So it’s a cream puff that’s cut and inside there is a prylene cream. It’s nutty, it’s soft, it’s creamy. It’s just good. There’s no way to come to Paris and not try the parabres.

Yeah, we serve this kind of desert Parry bread which is my favorite dessert, and my pastry chef Dominique Moon and LeGarrette do one of the best Parry breast. This is excellent cream filling but super light. You eat that It’s like a cloud and just melts in your mouth. It doesn’t overpower your mouth with sugar and cream and everything. This is an amazing French Dessert.

7. Tarte Aux Framboises

So this is basically raspberry then we’re going to find out what kind of cream. Cream filling, but super light. Just you eat that, it’s like a cloud and just melts in your mouth. It doesn’t overpower your mouth with sugar and cream and everything. And this is an amazing French Dessert.

So this is the tart Frambois, basically raspberry. And we’re going to find out what kind of cream is inside because they told me I had to try this one. Let’s dig in. Sounds very good. It’s very tart. Like the raspberries are tart and sweet, but not too sweet. We have that same crispy crumbly crust that we had in the Tarde citrus. It’s very complex and just really good. I can’t wait to hear how you describe it. Pretty good. No, this is more than really good. This is just excellent and close to perfection.

It looks like there’s a little bit of cream, raspberry filling, a little bit of cream on top of it, and then just one raspberry inside of a crust. And it looks absolutely delicious. And if my brother says this is amazing, then I think this is going to be good stuff. Wow. This is really freaking good. Wow. This is heavenly. This is absolutely delicious. Wow. This is amazing.

8. Tarte Au Citron Meringuee

The next French Dessert is Tarte Au Citron Meringuee. So this one is presented in a long way instead of a round circle. But the essence of it is the same. It’s the crumbly crust. The lemon is super light, so it’s very similar to what you in the US to a Kiln pie, except that it’s not as sharp as Keeline because it’s regular lemon, so quiet, is a little bit sharper. And the meringue on top of it just wraps it up. This is my favorite dish. This is very sweet, very light. This is just excellent.

The first thing I notice when I take this bite is the crunchiness of the crust because it’s soft and hard at the same time. And then the gentleness of the lemon filling, that’s good stuff. I like French key lime pie. My mother-in-law made Apple tart, something like this. And she taught me how to make it because, all the grandmothers, all the mothers in France make this. They’ve been doing it for years. And it’s so light and so flavorful with the Apple. It’s just very easy to eat. It’s an iconic French Dessert.

This is very good, very crunchy. The base is very crunchy. You feel the Apple and the almond. And this is just very classical. This is just the grandma recipe.

9. Eclair Au Chocolat

So now we’re going to try the classic French chocolate Eclair. So I’m just going to cut it and I’m going to eat this one with my fingers Because I can’t do that with a fork. Remember when we had the chocolate mousse earlier I thought it was going to be really light and it was so rich I could barely eat it all. This one is really light. It’s like a doughnut full of chocolate with chocolate on top. And it’s awesome.

French Dessert

Pretty much the same as a donut except that the paste is different. I prefer that to a donut, of course, because they are French, but it basically is a 19th-century dessert that basically hasn’t changed in 150 years. It’s the same dessert. I’m not a huge fan of doughnuts And I’m not a huge fan of Eclair either. This is very good. If you like donuts for me, this is your version of a donut. You’re going to absolutely love it. It’s light. Not too bad. You know what life is good.

10. Religieuse Au Choclat

This dessert is called the religious and it’s basically an Eclair With another smaller Eclair on top. But they call it a religious because it’s supposed to look like a nun wearing her habit. Maybe a heavenly experience to try.

So there I took the top piece like that. Exactly. Like an eclair. It’s light, it’s wonderful. And it’s kind of like a giant chocolate-filled donut. It’s a heavenly experience.

Small piece of the bottom part of the juice with the icing on top. Basically on Ecleo, the same thing, but it’s a different name. And again, it’s an iconic French dessert. And again, you have to try it.
