The Oppo Find X5 Pro is one of the best camera phones of the year, thanks to a hearty combination of superior optics and opposing very odd mara silicon X NPU, or Mazara, as we like to call it here at Texpert Towers. This handset absolutely briefly used its way into my rundown of the greatest smartphone snappers of 2022. But it’s not just the camera tech that makes Oppo’s flagship form one of the most exciting blowers of the year so far. It’s a portable powerhouse that boasts incredible 5G connectivity, courtesy of a collection of smartypants tech, including a very clever 360-degree antenna of oppo’s own invention.
So I’ve been testing out those 5G smarts to see just how good they really are. And smarter alerts they’re pretty good. So here’s a closer look at all of that shenanigans.
The Power Of Snapdragon
So, first up, the Oppo Find X5 Pro is a bit of a beef kick as it’s powered by Qualcomm’s most premium smartphone SOC right now the Snapdragon Eight Gen One. Trust me, those Qualcomm guys are a lot better at designing chipsets than they are at naming them. The snapdragon eight Gen One is great for many reasons. One of the most obvious ones is that it packs even more of a punch than a half-cut Jordy after you accidentally spill his pint.

So the Oppo Find X5 Pro can absolutely spank its way through any Android game out there, including proper memory gusts like the gentian impact. Sadly, this phone can’t magically make you good at these games. However, if you happen to be a cackhanded reprobate like myself, I think I’m just going to stick to where all and another great feature of that Snapdragon Eight Gen One is the built-in X 65 modem, which means you can hook up to nippy 5G networks wherever you wander and enjoy ultra-fast download speeds with support for a massive number of global networks and bandwidth.
Speed And Download Tests
Now, to see just how fast the Oppo Find X5 Pro really is in real life, I decided to start with a simple speed test app. And with my SIM bunked it in there.
This smartphone reliably topped 500 megabits per second download speeds just in my backyard, no matter how I actually clutched the phone as well. Now it was time to get serious. I decided to really pile the pressure on the Oppo Find X5 Pro. But I downloaded all five Twilight movies in the highest possible quality back to back all over that mobile network, and this smartphone certainly did not leave me hanging. About two minutes and 48 seconds were the time taken to finish this task.
Less than three minutes of hanging about for over 10 hours of hot vampire werewolf emo action. I mean, I don’t know about you, but I’d call that a sweeping victory right there. But this kind of crazy fast connectivity isn’t just down to Qualcomm’s Almighty Eight Gen One. I mean, let’s take the Oppo Find X5 Pros’ impressive camera performance? That’s possible, thanks to a combination of capable hardware, including Sony’s dependable IMX 766 sensors, plus Oppo’s own little twist, or great Mate Mazda, which processes the images captured and serves up some proper eye candy.
Oppo’s 5G Tech
Likewise, the Oppo Find X5 Pro’s ultra-fast connectivity is down to a combination of that powerful modem and Oppo’s own clever clogged tech, including the 360-degree smart antenna design. So remember when people were struggling to get a signal with their iPhone four, and Apple was all like, duh, you’re holding it wrong. Well, no, actually, you weren’t holding it wrong. Their antenna design is just not good. Which meant that your precious signal was being blocked by your own pesky flesh and blood when you were clutching the phone.
Thankfully, it is impossible to hold the Oppo Find X5 Pro wrong. Because even if you’re smothering the thing while gaming, that 360 smart antennae can find a clear signal whether the phone is upright or on its side. And that’s fantastic news because it means I can thoroughly enjoy being sniped in the back of the head by irritating school kids in Call of Duty mobile wherever I go, over and over and over. And for the Oppo Find X5 Pro, oppos engineering, bob spent an entire year designing a fresh, new dual pier four-way connection system.
Now, this really is some proper smartypants stuff, ensuring you get as strong a signal as possible wherever you happen to roam. So you’re sat on a train or in a car, streaming some of your favorite bold geeky YouTube fellas. When you pass through someplace with a dreadful lore signal, most phones would merely capitulate like a soggy tissue and leave you grinding your teeth at the endless buffering circle of doom. This phone’s power amplifier can cleverly boost that signal and keep you connected, whether you’re using 5G or just good old 4G. The same goes for online games like Call of Duty.
You’ll stay in the game rather than dropping out and missing out on that glorious victory. And this also helps the Oppo Find X5 Pro to find a signal when you emerge from some sort of dead zone, like a tube station. So you’re not just standing there just staring at your phone, waiting for it to actually do something.
Poor Coverage Tests
Now, to actually test this out, I decided to perform the speed test in various different locations not exactly known for their reliable network connections. So I started off deep in some local woodlands where normally I can’t even find enough signal to send a Tweet, let alone do anything actually worthwhile.
And lo and behold, right in the thick of it there, I actually managed to find a 4G signal, giving me a strong enough mobile connection to actually stream video and do pretty much whatever I wanted. After that, I decided to try out a bit of an underground car park action. And still, the Oppo Find X5 Pro was absolutely killing it, despite the fact I was surrounded by a lot of concrete. And so, right sod it. I thought I’m going to need something even more ridiculous. And so off I ventured to Chiselhurst Caves, a manmade network of underground passages with a rather violent past.
We’re talking everything from druidic human sacrifices to full-blown skiffle concerts. Now, filming and indeed, smartphone use wasn’t technically allowed inside of Chiselhurst kids, so I had to kind of surreptitiously do the speed tests while lingering near the very back of the tour group. And as we began our descent, surrounded by thick stone on all sides, the Oppo Find X5 Pro still somehow maintained a connection. But by the time we ventured several meters underground, finally, that mobile connection was severed. So there you have it.
All it took to finally best this Oppo blower was a 3000-year-old subterranean network of GIBS. And that right there, in a nutshell, is a closer look at the Oppo Find X5 Pro and its 5G Pros, helping to keep you connected wherever you roam. Massive.
